Two Seriously Injured in Redmond Crash, Driver Cited for DUI
by Bend Weekly News Sources

Early Wednesday morning two Oregon men sustained serious injuries to their legs after crashing into a steel pole in Redmond. The driver was cited for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Reckless Driving, and Assault III.

According to Officer Lee Gilbert of the Redmond Police Department, both men are believed to have been highly intoxicated at the time of the crash, and at least one open container of beer was discovered in the vehicle.  The accident occurred about 1:30 am, June 28th, on NW 5th Street near the North Y in Redmond.

Scott Alan Gregory, a 35 year old Ashwood resident, drove his Dodge Ram pickup over a curb and continued driving on the dirt shoulder for over 170 feet before he crashed into the pole. According to a witness to the crash, Gregory was traveling at a high rate of speed before he lost control.

The passenger in the vehicle, Larry Gene Arnett, age 31 of Terrebonne, was seen by Officers of the Redmond Police Department leaving The Fan several minutes before the crash occurred. Medics from the Redmond Fire Department removed the driver and passenger from the vehicle using the jaws of life, and the men were transported to the Redmond Hospital by ambulance.

Officer Gilbert also witnessed the crash from a distance, and arrived at the scene seconds after the accident occurred. Neither occupant remembered how the crash occurred, or what may have caused it.

Both the driver and the passenger sustained serious injuries to their legs and minor injuries to their upper bodies.

  • I would not believe anything Lee Gilbert says he is a liar and a thief. He is a disgrace to anybody who wears a badge.
