A 25-year old Redmond man was arrested early this morning following a police chase from Bend to Redmond, with officers resorting to the use of spike strips on the driver’s tires to ultimately apprehend the fleeing suspect.
About 3:15 a.m. April 11, a Bend Police officer attempted to stop a late model Cadillac near 9th Street and Wilson Avenue for a traffic violation, reported Sgt. Andy Homan. The driver, later identified as Ryan George Gove of Redmond, refused to stop and led police on a 15-mile pursuit ending in Redmond.

Redmond Police officers deployed spike strips at SW 15th Street and Pumice Avenue to stop the vehicle, Homan said, adding that no injuries or property damage resulted from the pursuit.
Bend and Redmond Police officers, assisted by Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies and a Redmond K-9 dog, participated in Gove’s arrest.
The suspect was taken into custody and lodged in the Deschutes County Jail. Gove is charged with felony elude, reckless driving, and a felony warrant for abscond, the sergeant said.
