Tower Theatre Agreement to Allow Use by Non-Profits
by Bend Weekly News Sources

The City of Bend City Council and the Tower Theatre Foundation have revised the Tower Theatre Agreement to include offering the use of the facility to other non-profit organizations. The agreement originally allowed for only City use in exchange for a $300,000 capital campaign commitment. This revised agreement allows other non-profit community groups to benefit from that agreement also.

The agreement now provides other community arts and non-profit organizations the opportunity to schedule the theatre for their use for a discounted fee. In the past, some organizations could not afford to pay for the use of the theatre. During the next two months, the specifications for the use of the Theatre will be defined; in the meantime, community organizations should forward their interest for the use of the theatre to the City of Bend.

Eli Ashley, Executive Director of the Tower Theatre Foundation, said, “I am pleased that the City Council and Tower Theatre Foundation have reached an understanding on revising the use of the Tower to include other non-profit organizations.” The discounted use of the theatre will begin this fall and run for an extended period over the next 20 years.

Interested non-profit community groups should send their notice of interest to the City of Bend, Attention - Patty Stell, 710 NW Wall Street, Bend, OR 97701 or call 388-5517.
