Bend Fire & Rescue Increases Fire Danger Level to Extreme
by Bend Weekly News Sources

FIRE DANGER: EXTREME

Due to hot and dry weather conditions and the low amount of live fuel moisture, Bend Fire and Rescue has increased the level of fire danger to extreme.

All fire danger signs within the City limits of Bend and DCRFD#2 reflect this change.

Bend Fire & Rescue reminds citizens to be extremely careful by following these tips:

§         In just two months, cigarettes have caused a total of 18 fires in June and July of this year. Dispose of cigarettes in approved, non-combustible containers, and don’t carelessly discard them outside in vegetation or decorative bark mulch. Brush fires can spread very rapidly in a short amount of time.

§         Keep lighters, matches and fireworks away from children. Children will go out of their way to obtain these devices.

As reminder to citizens, no backyard, commercial or agricultural burning is allowed within City limit of Bend and Deschutes County Rural Fire District #2, and will strictly be enforced.  A violation for open burning is punishable by a Class B civil infraction citation, with a bail amount of $500.

For more information on fire safety, please contact the Bend Fire & Rescue at 541 322-6309.
