A grand jury indictment this week added the first-degree manslaughter and reckless driving charges to those filed earlier.
The victim was struck by Day’s vehicle as he was walking southbound on the northbound shoulder of Highway 97 south of Wickiup Junction, according to Sgt. Dan Bilyeu with the Deschutes Sheriff’s Office.
Day was contacted within a matter of hours and taken into custody the same day of the incident. Day was released from jail on $110,000 bail and is due in court on September 18th to enter a plea to the charges.
