The Central Oregon Community Action Agency Network (COCAAN) will be joining Clay Guild of the Cascades at the Boys & Girls Club of Bend during their second annual Wildfire Pottery Showcase event September 1-3. The partnership is an effort to get more pottery bowls thrown for COCAAN’s annual Empty Bowls event, where artisan bowls are filled with soup and sold as a fundraiser for the COCAAN food bank. This year’s Empty Bowls event will be held November 12th.
COCAAN will be hosting a silent auction of pottery pieces donated by Wildfire participants and the public is invited to bid as much and as often as desired. Potters will take turns throwing bowls for COCAAN throughout the weekend.

In addition, there will be a showcase gallery, over 25 booths presenting clay-work from across the state, a children’s clay area and live demonstrations. Last year, more than 1,000 people attended the event throughout the weekend. For more information on the Wildfire Pottery Showcase, visit: www.clayguildofthecascades.com.
The exhibition will be held on Friday September 1st (5 p.m. to 9 p.m.), Saturday the 2nd (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.), and Sunday the 3rd (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.) at the historic Boys & Girls Club, located at 500 NW Wall Street, across from the Deschutes Public Library downtown Bend.
