No injuries were reported when a gun fired as a sales clerk grabbed at the firearm held by a robber who was holding up a fireworks stand in northeast Bend last evening, police reported.
Bend Police officers responded to the TNT Fireworks stand located in the parking lot of the Safeway store at 642 NE Third Street about 6:50 p.m. when they received a report of an armed robbery.
According to Lt. Gary Mack, the suspect displayed a gun and demanded money.One of the victims tried to grab the gun, causing it to fire.
Witnesses said the suspect fled on foot toward NE 4th Street and NE Franklin, then north on NE 4th Street.Officers and a police dog searched the area but were unable to locate the man who is described as a Caucasian male about 5-foot 8-inches to 5-foot 10-inches tall with a medium build.He was last seen wearing a black ball cap, beige shirt, and black pants.
