In an effort to raise $1,450,000 for 24 non-profit agencies and 33 programs in Deschutes County, pacesetters Microsemi and UPS along with other early campaigns have raised over $50,000 to jump start the 2006-07 annual United Way campaign.
“It’s a great start to the campaign, but there’s a long way to go,” said Campaign Chair Cyndy Cook, Executive Director of Housing Works. “If this is any indication of how the campaign will progress, we will certainly meet our goal of $1,450,000.”
Many local volunteers will assist the United Way of Deschutes County with the Annual Campaign between September 12 - November 17 through employee campaigns, corporate donations, individual and leadership gifts.
In July 2006, volunteers from the United Way of Deschutes County invested over $1,000,000 to non-profit agencies in the community. Community Partner programs impact one in four lives in Deschutes County each year and focus on helping kids get a great start in life, keeping youth on track for success, meeting basic needs of individuals and families, and keeping children and families safe from violence and abuse.
