A 69-year old Redmond woman was arrested and taken to jail for disorderly conduct when she allegedly lay down in the street and blocked traffic during an anti-Iraq war protest in Bend on Friday about noon, police reported.

Francis Elizabeth “Betsy” Lamb was one of two protesters who failed to disperse when Bend Police officers made the request after both lanes of traffic were filled with vehicles waiting to pass in the 100 block of NW Hawthorne Avenue, Sgt. John Carlon said.
Both of the defiant protesters were escorted to the sidewalk and told they would be arrested if they returned to the street.
“Francis Lamb immediately returned to the street and laid down, blocking the westbound lane,” Carlon wrote in a news release.
She was arrested for second-degree disorderly conduct and lodged in the Deschutes County Jail.
