A 21-year old man was arrested early Wednesday morning after he allegedly fired several shots outside a residence in north Bend and tried to break into the home after he was asked to leave and was locked outside, police said.

According to a news release prepared by Bend Police Sgt. Greg Owens, officers responded to the 63300 block of Lava Crest Street about 1 a.m. when the residents, Martha Fuchs and Kathryn Bell, both 21, reported a man outside shooting a gun into the air. A third person was also inside the home, and was identified as 21-year old Bree White of Wasilla, Alaska.

Arriving officers found the suspect, 21-year old Seth Daniel Burts of 214 NW Florida Avenue, in the yard, and saw him try to open a window on the side of the house, Owens said.

Burts and Fuchs know each other, Owens said, and Burts had been in the house prior to the incident but was told to leave and locked out of the house.  “Burts stayed on the outside of the house and fired several shots from a handgun into the air,” the release stated wrote.  A fence was also damaged, and the handgun was recovered at the scene.  No injuries were reported.

Burts was taken into custody without incident and lodged in the Deschutes County Jail.  He is charged with first-degree burglary, three counts each of reckless endangering and menacing, four counts of unlawful use of a weapon, and second-degree criminal mischief.
