T.J. Maxx opens in Bend on Sunday
by Bend Weekly Sources

T.J. Maxx, the nation's largest off-price retailer, will open a store in Bend, Oregon on Sunday. The 28,000-square-foot store will be located in Bend River Promenade, 3188 North Highway 97 and will open with a larger accessories department than a typical T.J. Maxx.

Grand opening hours are 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Regular store hours will be 9:30 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Sunday. The store will add about 75 full and part-time jobs to the area, a company spokeswoman said.

"Since its first store opening in 1977, T.J. Maxx has offered first quality, brand name and designer merchandise at amazing prices every day!" the company's statement said.

Offering fashions for the entire family and home, T.J. Maxx carries apparel for women, men, and children; as well as giftware, domestics, women's shoes, accessories and fine jewelry. The store will also have an educational toy and book department that sells arts and crafts, games, science kits and puzzles.

Private dressing rooms, convenient layaways, gift certificates and a liberal return policy are some of T.J. Maxx's customer conveniences. Each week the store will receive more than 10,000 new items, ensuring a continual flow of fresh merchandise.

The expanded accessories department will offer fashion forward looks in handbags, fine jewelry and luggage.

"Accessories add excitement and pizzazz to a wardrobe and speak volumes about a person's taste and style," said T.J. Maxx Spokesperson, Laura McDowell. "With the increasing variety of fashion choices available, and the success of these product categories, we felt customers would embrace a larger accessories department."

According to company President Ernie Herrman, "With the addition of the Bend store, T.J. Maxx is meeting consumer demand for quality, brand name merchandise. Our newest store will offer shoppers the designer names they know and trust at prices well below department stores." In addition to providing a new shopping option for local residents and area workers, the new store will add approximately 75 full and part-time jobs to the area.

Each T.J. Maxx store nationwide, including the new Bend store, sponsors a child through Save The Children and supports Autism Speaks.

Over 16 years ago, T.J. Maxx established an association with the domestic branch of Save The Children. Save The Children is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to making lasting, positive changes in the lives of disadvantaged children and their communities.

Autism Speaks is dedicated to funding global biomedical research into the causes, prevention, treatments, and cure for autism; to raising public awareness about autism and its effects on individuals, families, and society; and to bringing hope to all who deal with the hardships of this disorder.

T.J. Maxx is a Massachusetts-based off-price retailer with over 800 stores in 48 states. Visit/shop us on the Web at www.tjmaxx.com.
