WELLINGTON, Fla. -- A Florida man changed his plea to guilty Wednesday during a criminal fraud trial involving a land deal linked to a former Palm Beach County lawmaker.
Dan Miteff was charged with 20 counts for conspiring with former County Commissioner Tony Masilotti to buy 49 acres of land from the Archdiocese of Palm Beach County, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel said. He changed his plea to guilty at the start of the third day of his trial.
Masilotti, who is serving five years in prison for fraud, was expected to testify at the trial. Miteff faces up to to 27 years in jail and fines of close to $1 million, the newspaper said.
