WASHINGTON - Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards is telling New Hampshire voters the political system in Washington is rigged against them.
In a 30-second TV ad airing in the Granite State, Edwards says there is no difference between what he calls "corporate Republicans" and "corporate Democrats," USA Today reported Friday.
"Do you really believe if we replace a crowd of corporate Republicans with a crowd of corporate Democrats that anything meaningful is gonna change?" says the former senator from North Carolina.
In an analysis of the spot, the newspaper says Edwards is targeting Hillary Clinton even though he doesn't mention her by name. For months he has been trying to portray Clinton as the candidate of the status quo.
Edwards, who trails both Clinton and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama in New Hampshire, bills himself in the ad as a champion of ordinary people.
"This system is corrupt," says Edwards. "And it's rigged. And it's rigged against you."
