BAXTER, Iowa -- One person was unaccounted for Monday as Iowa state fire officials searched for the cause of an explosion and fire at a senior living complex.
Smoke was seen billowing from one of four buildings at the complex in Baxter in central Iowa, television station KCCI, of Des Moines, reported.
Firefighters battled the blaze for several hours in near-zero-degree temperatures. Authorities said the state fire marshal's office has been asked to help in the investigation.
Neighbors said the early morning explosion rocked their homes, the television station reported.
