ST. LOUIS -- Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani was hospitalized Wednesday night in St. Louis after he canceled a flight because of flu-like symptoms.
The 63-year-old former mayor of New York began feeling ill after a day of campaigning in Missouri, and after his flight took off for New York it worsened, a campaign spokesman said.
The plane returned to St. Louis, and Giuliani contacted his personal physician who told him to go to the Barnes Jewish Hospital, CBS reported. He spent the night there and planned to return to New York Thursday, a campaign statement said.
Giuliani was treated for prostate cancer in 2000 and earlier told CNN he gets retested every six month, and "for all intents and purposes, the cancer is cured."
