BOSTON -- Hundreds of travelers were delayed or worse at Logan International Airport in Boston Thursday because of a winter storm.
During the morning, the Federal Aviation Administration said that more flights were late or canceled at Logan than at any other airport in the country. Flights to Boston were held for up to an hour at other airports.
David Levin of Chestnut Hill told the Boston Globe that his flight to Los Angeles did not leave the gate until 12:30 p.m., sat on the runway until 4 p.m. and was then canceled. He said there were long lines at ticket counters as stranded travelers tried to get help.
"This place is a zoo now," he said.
Airport officials said that de-icing airplanes took an unusually long time, blaming that for much of the delay.
