FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A Pennsylvania FBI fugitive was arrested in Miami Sunday after an off-duty sheriff's deputy in Fort Myers, Fla., recognized him from a Saturday television show.
Saturday night, Lee County Deputy Jacob Stutzman and his wife watched "America's Most Wanted" and the next morning recognized a man in their church congregation, the Fort Myers News-Press reported.
Stutzman made some phone calls and determined where the man lived in Miami and Augusto Rodriguez was arrested Sunday afternoon, the report said.
He was wanted on charges he kidnapped his ex-girlfriend at knifepoint on April 18, 2005, in Middletown, Pa., then allegedly tied her up and took her to Boca Raton, Fla., where she managed to escape.
Rodriguez was being held in a Miami jail pending extradition to Pennsylvania, police said.
