BOLINGBROOK, Ill. -- Officials said that cemetery photos and ominous letters left at neighbors of Bolingbrook, Ill., missing woman Stacy Peterson were a hoax.
"It was somebody who had been following the case too closely -- he was very emotionally involved and had a belief of what happened to Stacy," family spokeswoman Pam Bosco told the Chicago Tribune. "It wasn't a valid lead."
Two neighbors found dozens of color photos of graves strewn on a driveway and notes in a mailbox claiming the 23-year-old Peterson could be found in a graveyard, the Chicago Sun-Times said.
Peterson has missing since Oct. 28, and her husband, Drew Peterson, a former police sergeant, is a suspect, though he hasn't been charged. Police also are re-examining the death of Drew Peterson's third wife, Kathleen Savio, who died in her bathtub.
