Clinton braces for scandal anniversary
by UPI

WASHINGTON -- Advisers to New York Sen. Hillary Clinton are aware Monday is the 10-year anniversary of her husband's relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

Unfortunately, the date comes at the height of the presidential primary season and during Clinton's campaign for the Democratic nomination, The Washington Post reported Friday.

Campaigning in support of his wife's bid for the White House, the former president may also be trying to set the record straight on his two terms in office, the Post said.

Speaking to a group of college students in New Hampshire last week, Bill Clinton took a jab at special prosecutor Ken Starr whose investigation of a business deal led to uncovering the Lewinsky affair that resulted in Clinton's impeachment.

"Ken Starr spent $70 million and indicted innocent people to find out that I wouldn't take a nickel to see the cow jump over the moon," Clinton told the students who were too young to remember the battles of his presidency.

The Post says some of Hillary Clinton's close advisers cringed when her husband brought up the matter.
