LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A Kentucky teenager who lost both feet when an amusement park ride malfunctioned described her ordeal in a deposition filed this week.
Kaitlyn Lassiter of Germantown and her family have filed a lawsuit against Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. In the deposition, Kaitlyn, 14, answered questions from lawyers for the park, the Louisville Courier-Journal reported.
"My future has totally changed," Kaitlyn said, describing her life since June 2007.
Kaitlyn's right foot was reattached, although doctors are unsure whether it might have to be removed. Her left leg was amputated below the knee.
The accident occurred on the Superman Tower of Power, which lifts riders 177 feet high and then drops them at high speed. Kaitlyn, in her deposition, said the problems started on the upward ride, and that riders were screaming to the operator to stop it.
She said she was so sure she was going to die she told the friend next to her that she loved her.
