ATLANTA - Atlanta police suspect the recent deaths of four people, thought to be homeless individuals, were caused by natural causes or inclement weather.
The discovery of the four bodies in northwest Atlanta Saturday led authorities to suspect the potentially homeless individuals may have died from exposure to cold weather or simply natural causes, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution said.
Task Force for the Homeless official Anita Beaty said the discovery marked the most shocking incident in her 25-year history of dealing with the homeless.
"I've never heard of that," Beaty said. "This is the worst tragedy for us. This is exactly what we're working so hard to avoid."
The Journal-Constitution reported all of the victims were 50 years or older and such individuals are typically more susceptible to prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures.
