Obama, Huckabee take Georgia
by UPI

ATLANTA, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- U.S. Democrat Barack Obama, as expected, was the apparent winner in Georgia's Super Tuesday presidential primary, considerably outdistancing Hillary Clinton.

And in a surprising turn, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution said Mike Huckabee won a narrow victory over Republican rivals John McCain and Mitt Romney.

Exit polls showed up to one-third of Republicans making up their minds within the last three days.

Two polls released during the weekend produced widely different results, but both predicted an Obama win, one narrow and one a crushing victory. In both parties, only Obama ran television spots in the state.

Obama received 6-1 support from black voters, The Washington Post said. Other reports said he benefited greatly from hordes of new young voters coming to the polls.

But as in all Democratic contests Tuesday, delegates to the national convention would be allocated in proportion to the vote.
