MINNEAPOLIS - Police in Minneapolis Sunday found the body of Demond Reed, a 4-year-old boy who disappeared from his relatives' home last week.
The Star Tribune said Minneapolis police homicide investigators were treating the case as a likely homicide and an unidentified female suspect had been arrested.
Reed's mother had left him with relatives in Minneapolis so she could temporarily travel to Chicago, but the boy was reported missing from the relatives' home last Wednesday.
Reports in the case had the young boy traveling in the company of a family acquaintance, leading police to delay the implementation of an Amber alert.
While news of the boy's disappearance had reached out-of-state news sources, local police had no information regarding the car in which he was thought to be traveling.
The Star Tribune said police will continue to interview everyone related to the case in hopes of learning the details that led to Reed's death.
