ST. LOUIS - A Missouri judge may be impeached for a ruling she made in a divorce case that some have labeled as unfair and biased, it was reported Sunday.
The Kansas City Star reported that Associate Circuit Court Judge Christine Hutson may soon face impeachment, a rare action against a Missouri judge, for her allegedly one-sided divorce ruling.
The incident began when Claire Noland lost custody of her three youngest children to her husband in their divorce case. Noland later declared bankruptcy and still is unable to see her children on a regular basis.
House Counsel Don Lograsso said the investigation into Noland's case would take some time to ensure that any impeachment proceedings would be justified.
For her part, Noland wants to see action taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
"I don't care who you are, people should be held accountable," the distressed mother told the Star. "We have a system of checks and balances. Maybe other judges would be more careful in the future."
