PANAMA CITY, Fla. -- One of two U.S. Air Force pilots pulled from the Gulf of Mexico Wednesday after their fighter jets collided during a training mission has died, it was reported.
The second pilot was reported in good condition, Central Florida News 13 in Orlando, Fla., reported.
The two F-15C aircraft were about 50 miles south of Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, Fla., when the accident occurred, News 13 in Orlando reported. The pilots were fished out of the water about 6 p.m. local time, the TV station said.
The jets were assigned to the 33rd fighter wing, a unit based at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida's panhandle.
