CINCINNATI - A toddler brought to a Cincinnati hospital appeared to have been force-fed enough liquor to make her legally drunk, a Kentucky prosecutor said Friday.
The 3-year-old's blood alcohol level was .15, almost twice the legal limit for driving in both Kentucky and Ohio, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported. Her left arm was broken in two places and she was severely bruised.
"The alcohol intoxication does not appear to be voluntary as there is bruising around the neck and her lips are cut," Kenton County Attorney's Chief Prosecutor Ken Easterling said in a statement. "This is a serious concern."
The toddler had been living in Covington, Ky., with her mother, investigators said. But four adults had been around her during the 12 hours before she arrived at the hospital, including relatives in Elsmere, Ky.
The girl was removed from her mother's custody pending a hearing in April.
Easterling called what happened to the child "beyond comprehension."
