DAVIS, Calif. - A college freshman was arrested Thursday after two apparent pipe bombs were discovered in his dorm room at the University of California, Davis.
The university said Mark Woods, 19, of Torrance, Calif., was charged with suspicion of possessing explosives on school grounds and possession of chemicals to make explosives.
Campus police acting on a tip found what the Los Angeles Times said was a pair of partially assembled pipe bombs.
The discovery forced 455 students to spend the night in a cafeteria until the all-clear was given.
The university said in a written statement that normal activities on the campus had resumed and that the FBI had taken possession of the seized materials for further inspection.
Officials added there was no indication of any terrorist ties to the incident.
