MIAMI - At least two people died and four people were injured Tuesday when a section of a construction crane fell through the roof of a building in Miami, police said.
Rescuers at the high-rise construction site were searching for more victims using a specially trained dog, The Miami Herald reported.
Witnesses and police said the section of the crane fell from a 46-story luxury building under construction north of the city's downtown, crashing through a nearby lower-profile building.
"I watched it go through the roof," Mike Huffstutlear, a dry wall supervisor, told the Herald. "It was a disaster."
The section apparently was being raised to the top of the construction project when it broke and fell through the roof of a nearby building used as an office by the construction company, the newspaper said.
Miami police spokesman Delrish Moss confirmed two people were killed in the accident and rescuers were looking for other possible victims.
"We are not sure everyone is accounted for," Moss said. "We're still looking for a couple of people and are trying to figure out were everyone is."
