HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. -- South Florida police have added 11 new sex-abuse charges against a transient jailed for allegedly having sex with a child.
Matthew Kent Sheley, was arrested last Friday on one count of sexual performance with a child. However, police have since discovered evidence of what appears to be a second victim.
WFOR-TV, Miami, said Monday the investigation by police in Hollywood, Fla., turned up a collection of videotapes at Sheley's apartment in nearby Hallandale Beach. One tape featured a man believed to be Sheley allegedly performing sex acts with a young girl.
Police said more charges could be forthcoming as the investigation continues. They are also seeking information about the girl, who appears to be 7- to 9-years-old and has a distinctive birthmark on her arm.
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel said police, after some debate among investigators, took the extraordinary step of releasing images of the second child to generate tips about her identity.
