PEARLAND, Texas - Police in the Houston area say they have arrested a suspect in a violent car-theft attempt that resulted in three schools being closed or locked down.
Pearland police announced Tuesday a keen-nosed bloodhound led them to the suspect hiding in a shed behind a home nearly 12 hours after the massive manhunt began.
The Houston Chronicle said the man's name was not immediately revealed, but he surrendered without a fight.
The chase began early Monday when a Pearland man grappled with another man who was allegedly trying to steal is new Dodge Challenger from his driveway. Police say a couple of shots were fired during the struggle.
Police from several jurisdictions scoured the area Monday and ordered a high school and junior high locked down while kids on their way to an elementary school were rounded up and taken to the junior high where their parents picked them up.
