DALLAS -- A Dallas woman told police she blacked out the night she left her 7-month-old son alone in her car until morning when he was found dead.
Laheather Wilson said she had downed prescription painkillers and wine shortly before picking the boy up at day care, then failed to summon help for some 15 minutes the next morning after she found him unresponsive in the car.
The child, Christian Wilson, was declared dead at the scene.
Wilson was jailed on a felony charge of injury to a child-reckless, the Dallas Morning News reported.
Wilson told police that she had been taking hydrocordone for an injured knee.
A police report said Wilson did not call 911 when she discovered Christian Wilson in the vehicle Wednesday morning. The report said she went to her next door neighbor to borrow a cell phone and did not tell him what had happened even though the neighbor was a Dallas police officer.
Instead, she dialed four other numbers before returning to the neighbor and asking for help 15 minutes later, the report said.
