ATLANTA -- An Ohio man suffering from Montezuma's Revenge is accused of assaulting a Delta flight attendant who blocked his way to a business class bathroom.
Joao Correa was arrested after his flight touched down in Atlanta and spent two nights in jail before a federal magistrate granted bond, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Wednesday.
Delta spokeswoman Susan Elliot says the airline strictly follows Federal Aviation Administration policy that calls for passengers on international flights to use the lavatory in their seating class.
Correa, 43, of Concord, Ohio, was unable to get to the proper lavatory because a beverage cart was blocking the single aisle of the Delta Boeing 737 jetliner, the newspaper said.
He told the Journal-Constitution that he became ill from a meal he had in Honduras and "had no choice" but to head for the business class bathroom.
A preliminary hearing in his case is scheduled for April 17.
