MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- A Miami Beach, Fla., waiter who was suspected of planning a shooting rampage had 22 handguns and rifles in his home, police said.
Miami Beach police said a search of the home of Pelican Hotel restaurant waiter Timothy Allan Svec, 44, resulted in the discovery of the firearms, The Miami Herald said Thursday.
Svec's lawyers, Sebastian J. Balliro and David Seltzer, say the guns are all legal additions to their client's gun collection.
The home search resulted from reports by two of Svec's co-workers in March who alleged the waiter had been threatening to shoot people randomly.
"They described him as unstable and capable of carrying out his threats,'' Miami Beach police detective Luis Estopinan said in the search warrant.
The Herald said Svec has yet to be officially charged and that both local and federal authorities are investigating the allegations.
