ORLANDO, Fla. - A 4-year-old boy shot his dad in the arm with father's semi-automatic handgun, police in Orange County, Fla., said.
Bruce Tanner, 24, told police he usually keeps his Glock .45-caliber handgun in a fanny pack near his bed at night and locked in a closet during the day, the Orlando Sentinel reported. But Sunday morning, Tanner saw the boy with the gun and lunged toward him when it went off.
Tanner's wife heard the shot, saw her husband fall to the floor and called 911. Tanner was in stable condition Sunday night at Orlando Regional Medical Center, the Sentinel reported.
The newspaper said that Tanner had a permit for the weapon. Under Florida law, guns must be either equipped with trigger locks or stored in locked containers out of the reach of children. The Orange County Sheriff's Office said it would forward details of the case to the Orange-Osceola State Attorney's Office.
