TRENTON, N.J. - New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine was taken by Medevac helicopter to a hospital Thursday afternoon after being hurt in a car crash on the Garden State Parkway.
The governor had just left Atlantic City and was on his way to the governor's mansion, Drumthwacket, in Princeton for a meeting between the Rutgers women's basketball team and radio shock jock Don Imus, the Star-Ledger of Newark reported.
A spokesman said Corzine's injuries were "not life-threatening." Senate President Dick Codey told the newspaper he had been notified he would be acting governor while Corzine is in surgery at Cooper Medical Center in Camden.
