DALLAS - An 8-month-old girl was the only survivor of an apparent murder-suicide west of Dallas on Tuesday that left three girls and their mother dead.
The sister of the woman called police when she went to check on the family after her sister didn't show up for work near Hudson Oaks, Texas, KXAS-TV, Dallas, reported.
The unidentified 23-year-old woman and her four daughters were all found hanging by strips of cloth in a closet in their mobile home, the report said. The daughters were ages 5, 3 and 2 years and 8 months, although the infant was alive and reported in good condition at Cooks Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, the report said.
Parker County (Texas) Sheriff Larry Fowler said it appeared to be a murder-suicide but investigators would be looking further into the deaths.
Not far from the home in July 2002, a woman shot and killed her three children, her ex-husband and herself as their divorce became final. The man survived.
