ORLANDO, Fla. - A family of five and a Walt Disney World employee were hurt Tuesday while the tourists were being evacuated from a water ride at the Florida park.
Bo Jones, deputy fire chief of the Reedy Creek Improvement District, told the Orlando Sentinel the Kali River Ride at Animal Kingdom, which simulates a rain forest raft trip, was being emptied of passengers after a sensor failure brought it to a halt. The six people were on an evacuation platform that dropped suddenly.
The park employee suffered broken bones, while the guests had bruises. Central Florida News 13 said the five visitors were all members of a single family.
The ride was shut down until late afternoon.
