JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A single-engine propeller plane made an emergency landing on a Jacksonville, Fla., beach after the aircraft suddenly lost power.
The pilot and owner of the plane were on their way to Craig Field when the aircraft suddenly lost power over the Jacksonville Beach Saturday, The Jacksonville Times-Union reported Sunday.
The pilot and the owner, who have not been identified, managed to land the aircraft without causing any injuries, said Jacksonville Beach Police Sgt. Tom Bingham.
"He apparently picked an area where there weren't too many people," said Bingham.
Bingham said the plane was slightly damaged around the propeller and nose when it landed in the sand.
He said arrangements had been made to tow the plane back to the airport.
