ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. -- Albert Gore III has been released from Orange County (Calif.) Jail on $20,000 bail on marijuana possession charges.
Former Vice President Al Gore's son was arrested Wednesday after being stopped for driving 100 mph, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Deputies detected the "strong odor of marijuana," when they approached Gore's car, said Jim Amormino, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Department.
A search of the car revealed that the 24-year-old was in possession of marijuana and prescription drugs Vicodin, Valium, Xanax and Adderall, an amphetamine used to treat attention deficit disorder, Amormino said.
Gore was booked on four charges, possession of prescription drugs without a prescription and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
He was previously arrested in Bethesda, Md., in 2003 on suspicion of possessing marijuana and ordered to participate in a substance abuse program.
