OCEAN CITY, N.J. -- A ride at a seaside New Jersey amusement park was shut down and awaiting inspection Monday after a mechanical failure caused five minor injuries.
Gillian's Wonderland Pier in Ocean City was open for business, but the Canyon Falls Log Flume was closed until state inspectors determine what caused Sunday's mishap.
The Philadelphia Inquirer said two children and three adults were hurt when one of the log boats somehow slid backward and crashed into the boat behind it.
The newspaper noted a similar incident in 1999 involving a different ride at the venerable park killed a woman and her daughter.
