CHICAGO -- The body of Deena David, a mother of two missing since last week, was found inside a closet at the Chicago home of one of her relatives.
While a Cook County, Ill., medical examiner has yet to positively identify the body, relatives of David confirmed that the 35-year-old's body was found last weekend stuffed in a large plastic bag in a relative's closet, the Chicago Tribune said Monday.
Chicago police said the body was found Sunday during a routine well-being check of the unidentified relative's home and that a suspect was in custody.
Relatives of David reported her missing last week and have criticized the police's investigative efforts into the matter.
The last time David was reportedly seen was last Wednesday at a family member's home.
Other relatives alleged that family members actually discovered David's body in the home's closet.
A homicide investigation has been launched into David's death and police are awaiting an autopsy to learn how she died, the Tribune said.
