ORLANDO, Fla. -- A 2-month-old Florida baby was found unharmed after a man stole a car with the baby inside, police said.
The car was found about 100 yards from where it was stolen, WKMG-TV in Orlando reported Monday. The man may have ditched the car in a nearby neighborhood when he realized the baby was in the backseat, police said.
"The baby was sitting back there calm like babies do," Orlando police Officer Noah Pruitt told WKMG-TV. "The good thing about it was we were able to get the baby back."
While the man wasn't found, the baby's mother was taken into custody and charged with child neglect and leaving a child in a vehicle with the keys in the ignition, police said. The baby's mother told police she left the car running to go into a house to get an umbrella and when she returned the car was gone, WKMG reported.
