BOSTON -- Two children were stabbed to death in Boston's Hyde Park neighborhood last weekend in an apparent act of domestic violence, a police spokeswoman said.
While initial reports had a 31-year-old woman and a child dead at the scene, Boston police spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll denied those allegations and said two children were the actual victims, The Boston Herald said Monday.
Boston police Superintendent John Gallagher wouldn't offer specifics regarding the situation, only stating that police had to break into a Hyde Park home in response to the grisly discovery.
Some sources said one of the victims was a 10-year-old boy and that a 12- to 15-year-old girl was involved as well.
A third individual, thought to be the children's mother, was reportedly injured in the incident and taken to a local hospital.
One Hyde Park resident said she was friends with the injured woman and alleged that she had possibly attempted to kill herself.
Police said they ruled out the possibility that the incident was a random attack, the Herald reported.
