Humane Society Offers Tips to Help Pets this Holiday Season
by Humane Society of Central Oreg

The community can help the homeless animals this holiday season by participating in the Humane Society of Central Oregon’s holiday wish trees by donating food and supplies.  For the pet lover on your list give an adoption gift certificate or identification tag.  For those that prefer to choose their own present, a gift certificate from the Humane Society Thrift Store is the perfect answer.  For those who like to make it easy for others to donate, they can organize a pet food and supply drive.

Humane Society of Central Oregon Wish Trees

The Wish Trees are an important part of our annual drive for donations to meet the needs of the community and the nearly 5,000 animals cared for at the Humane Society of Central Oregon. Visit one of the wish trees and choose an ornament which lists an item that is needed for the animals or to provide services. The Wish Trees can be found at the Humane Society Animal Shelter (just south of Reed Market on 27th Street) and Thrift Store (5th and Greenwood), Bend Pet Express East (420 NE Windy Knolls Drive) and Bend Pet Express West (133 SW Century Drive) and Birkenstock in downtown Bend. People who contribute an item from the tree at Birkenstock will receive 5% off their store purchase at that time.  A list is also available by calling 382-3537 or visiting www.hsco.org

Humane Society of Central Oregon Adoption Gift Certificates are available for the pet lover on your list.  Adoption gift certificates for a dog, cat or dog or cat are available at the animal shelter in Bend.  Gift certificates include all adoption benefits.  Adoptions include spay or neuter surgery, veterinary health exam, microchip identification, collar, leash, ID tag, leash or carrying box, one month free pet health insurance, free pet food and a best friend for life.

Designer ID Tags are the perfect gift for a quick and safe return of a companion animal.  Custom ID tags are available at the Humane Society of Central Oregon animal shelter in a variety of designs to fit your pet’s personality.  A Holiday special of $1 off each tag is valid through December 30th.

Humane Society of Central Oregon Thrift Store Gift Certificates are available at the Thrift Store at 5th and Greenwood.  The Thrift Store directly supports the programs and services the shelter provides the animals and people of our community.

Organize a Food and Supply Drive for the animals.  The Humane Society will provide the promotional materials to make your drive a success.  This is a great opportunity for businesses or groups to help the animals in our community.  Help the Humane Society gather the items needed to care for the 5,000 animals cared for each year.

For more information call 382.3537 or visit the shelter Monday through Friday 10:00 am to 5:30 pm and Saturday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm or visit our website at www.hsco.org. The shelter is located just south of Reed Market on 27th Street in Bend.
