Snow delays opening of Detroit Lake State Park campground

Camping season at Detroit Lake State Park will arrive late, Oregon Parks and Recreation Department officials announced Thursday.
Park officials have delayed reopening the park's campground for 2008 until March 14. Originally slated to open Feb. 29, the 294-site campground remains under two feet of snow left from late January's snowfall.
Despite the lingering snow level, the park crew has reopened the low water boat ramp in the park's Mongold day-use area.
