(Sisters, Oregon) – Applications are being accepted for the 2007 PRCA Sisters Rodeo Queen, according to John Leavitt, queen selection committee chair. Applications will be accepted until September 23 with tryouts are scheduled for Sunday, September 24 at 1 p.m. at the Sisters Rodeo Arena.
"We are selecting our 2007 queen in advance of our rodeo next June to allow our queen to appear at more events before the rodeo," Leavitt explained.
Applicants must be, as of June 9, 2007, 18 years to 23 years of age, single, have not been married and must not have children. They must supply their own horse and demonstrate their riding abilities. Proof of insurance must accompany all applications. The queen must have time available for appearances at the 67 th annual PRCA Sisters Rodeo in June and other events. She will also represent the Sisters Rodeo Association at other Oregon rodeos.
Three judges will select the queen based on personality, appearance, riding ability and the contestant's horse. In addition to the riding demonstration, contestants will be asked to give a brief oral presentation and respond to questions from the judges.
The applicant selected will receive a wardrobe, a Sisters Rodeo belt buckle, travel expenses, and a $500 Sally Leavitt Queen's Scholarship for continued education.
