Run, Run As Fast As You Can … To Bake A Gingerbread House benefiting Mountain Star Family Relief Nursery
by Bend Weekly News Sources

Entry forms with payment are due by Friday, Nov. 10 for the 11th annual Gingerbread Junction, which benefits the Mountain Star Family Relief Nursery.  The event is co-sponsored by Sunriver Resort and the Central Oregon Builders Association.

Mountain Star Family is the only program in Deschutes County that provides comprehensive services to prevent child abuse and neglect in at-risk families with children, ages 6 weeks to 4 years. They offer services free of charge to families facing major challenges when they most need help.

Entry forms are available at Bellatazza in Downtown Bend, Sunriver Realty in Sunriver and Bend, Sunriver Resort and online at sunriver-resort.com/gingerbread.  Completed entry forms should be mailed to Gingerbread Junction, P.O. Box 1602, Bend, Oregon, 97709.

Gingerbread Junction features three “lot choice” options for purchase -- Small (1’ x 1’) for $15, Medium (1’ x 1.5’) for $25 and Large (2’ x 3’) for $50.  All proceeds from the lot sales will be donated to the Mountain Star Family Relief Nursery, while Sunriver Resort will make a dollar-for-dollar matching donation.

There are five different categories: adult individual, business, elementary (K-5), middle school and high school (6-12) and children’s individual.  Prizes will be awarded in various categories.  All houses must be 51 percent edible, and may not exceed lot dimensions.  Electrical connections are also available for the homes that require them.

All completed houses must be delivered to Sunriver Resort Lodge or Sunriver Realty in Bend (50 SW Bond St., Suite 1) on either Sunday, Nov. 19 or Monday, Nov. 20 between 2 - 4 pm.  Gingerbread houses will be on display in the North Pole at Sunriver Resort Lodge and other locations around the resort from Nov. 25 to Dec. 30.

For more information call 593-4609 or visit sunriver-resort.com/gingerbread.
