Prineville BLM seeks seasonal employees now
by Bend Weekly News Sources

PRINEVILLE, Ore. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Prineville Field Office is seeking seasonal employees for the 2008 field season. We currently have seasonal (May through October) job opportunities available for work as Park Rangers and Recreation Technicians. These are field positions with duties primarily located in remote, but often busy, recreation-based outdoor settings.

Primary duties include making public contacts and informing recreationists about regulations and environmental and land use ethics, so applicants should be skilled in the areas of communications, problem-solving, conflict resolution and maintenance duties.

“We depend heavily on our summer workforce to ensure that folks recreating on the Lower Deschutes River are in compliance with the rules and have an enjoyable and safe experience,” said Field Manager Molly Brown.

HOW TO APPLY
To review and apply for open vacancy announcements with the BLM, go to the
USA jobs government web site where applications can be submitted electronically. In the boxes “under search Jobs” enter the following vacancy announcement numbers:

NHRMC-2008-0001
NHRMC-2008-0003
NHRMC-2008-0006
NHRMC-2008-0007

Several jobs will appear; select the jobs you are interested in and apply online. In the application itself, you can indicate up to seven different locations where you are interested in working. Prineville, Oregon  or Maupin, Oregon must be indicated in order for our local BLM Field Office to consider you as an applicant. The following job opportunities are available: park rangers and recreation technicians (includes river patrol, campground duties and interpretation).

Applicants must be 18 years of age, hold a valid driver’s license, pass a security clearance and apply by February 20, 2008 to be considered. For additional information, contact Lynette Ripley, BLM River Manager, at (541) 416-6781, at Prineville Field Office in Prineville Oregon, or go to
www.usajobs.gov.  For more information on the Prineville BLM, visit our
