Route #3 Bus Stops on Portland Avenue Change to Newport Ave. Dec. 18
by Bend Weekly News Sources

Bend Area Transit (BAT) is permanently relocating two bus stops on Route #3 from Portland Avenue to locations on Newport Avenue. The relocations are being implemented because with the opening of Newport Bridge, the Portland Avenue detour is no longer necessary.

Beginning Monday, December 18, two bus stops on Portland Avenue (Portland and 9th Street, and Portland and Awbrey) will be moved to the new permanent locations at Newport Avenue and 6th Street, and Newport Avenue and Awbrey.  All other stops will remain the same.

BAT will pick up riders at the new permanent bus stops on Newport Avenue beginning Monday, and will no longer service the bus stops on Portland Avenue and 9th Street, and Portland Avenue and Awbrey.

The City of Bend launched the new transit system in September of this year.  Ridership has increased steadily over the months. The transit system’s routes run throughout the City six days a week. Route #3 provides an important connection to COCC/OSU Cascades Campus, as well as to many shopping locations.
