During the week, there were 15 reports of vehicle break-ins, with an estimated value of stolen items at $4,878. Of the 15 reports, 8 vehicles were unlocked. There were a total of 5 bicycle thefts, all unlocked, with an estimated value of $1,015. DUII arrests totaled 5, and there were 15 warrant arrests made. One vehicle was impounded when the driver was found to have a suspended license.
§ 8/16. Central Oregon Community College reported over $3,000 in computer equipment including a Dell laptop LE1600 was stolen.
§ 8/17. A Bend resident of NW Remarkable St. reported someone dented the fender of her Lexus with a rock. Later in the day, someone peppered all of the homeowners’ vehicles parked on the street with paintballs.
§ 8/18. A Bend woman reported that someone drove through her yard, damaging 6 feet of retaining wall and the grass. Two of her neighbors claimed to have witnessed the incident, but one described the suspect vehicle as a black & red truck, and the other as a blue & gray Suburban.
§ 8/18. Shelley Hall Gallery reported the theft of $825 worth of paintings, photos, & prints which were hanging in a stairway area outside the business. The owner believes the stairway may have accidentally been left unlocked.
§ 8/18. A Terrebonne man was arrested for allegedly passing two counterfeit $100 bills at Grover’s Pub.
§ 8/19. A Portland woman reported that her locked car was broken into while parked at the Shops at the Old Mill. Over $900 in items were stolen.
§ 8/19. A Bend resident of se Craven Road reported someone smashed the windshield and dented the roof of his car, causing $1,600 in damage. The vehicle was parked on the street in front of his house, and he found an 8-inch rock in his yard nearby.
§ 8/18. A Bend woman reported $3,000 in damage to the luggage rack and roof of her VW Bug while it was parked on Empire.
§ 8/19. A blunt object was used to damage the windshield of a Duck Delivery vehicle while parked on SE Bridgeford. Damage is estimated at $300.
§ 8/19. A Bend man reported that someone in a white vehicle smashed 3 dents into the fender of his Mitsubishi GT3000, causing $3,000 in damage.
§ 8/20. A Bend man was arrested for driving while under the influence of intoxicants (alcohol). He claimed he wasn’t driving, he didn’t drink, and had absolutely nothing to drink. In answer to the questions “What time did you start? Where did you start driving? Where were you drinking?” he said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about, man.”
§ 8/20. A Bend man reported $500 in damage to his pickup when an unknown subject shot the passenger door at close range with a paintball.
